Open Womens Futsal 2020
The Pirates are actively supporting Womens Futsal in every way possible. The Club supports any proposed FFA National Futsal League - hopefully it will be reinstated in 2020!
In 2019, four representative teams from Football West, Queensland Football and the New Zealand National team - the Silver Ferns, along with Victoria, played in the FIFA sanctioned tournament. The matches were played on the 40m x 20m sized pitch to Stop Clock Rules; just what every Futsal player aspires to at this level. The Kiwis were well prepared and too strong for all of their opponents, winning all six matches to take home the trophy.
The Futsal community hopes that one day soon, Australia will also have a female national program for Futsal, so that we too can perform on the world stage.
Watch this space for developments.
Lots of Futsal is available for the Women and Girls that want to play for the Pirates.
We will be entering teams in the FV State Club Championships (Easter) and in the Victoria Futsal League's Bayside League and Premier League in term 4, plus other tournaments. We train every Saturday afternoon at Cheltenham Secondary College.
