UPDATED October 2017

The Club has an extensive Futsal Program which is organised around the four school terms of each year and the FFV Futsal Calendar.

The Club's main focus for Juniors is the FFV State Leagues, the FFV State Futsal Championships, the Joma Sala League (JSL) and the annual trip to Queensland for the Craig Foster Futsal Challenge. It gives juniors the opportunity to play Futsal in well organised professional environments every week.

We accept players from the age of 6 and upwards, both boys and girls. The players are organised into age groups with their relevant skills identified. When they reach the appropriate skill level they are organised into teams that will compete in the various competitions. The entry point for FFV competitions is the U10s. Children under the age of ten will play games as part of their training at Mentone Girls Secondary College on Friday nights. The Bayside Pirates is a fully endorsed FFV and FFA Futsal Club.

Training commences in early February of each year at two locations: Mentone Girls Secondary College and Cheltenham Secondary College. This is a very important part of the year, as we coach the players on how to play the game, whilst improving their skills. It also provides valuable time in team bonding. Players who expect to join the club in term 2 or 3, with a view to being allocated a position in one of the FFV competitions and tournaments, with no previous training, may struggle to adapt and may not be accepted by the club. Players who have joined the club in term 1 and who commit to the club for the duration of the four school terms will always be given priority for the places available.

We place an emphasis on coaching, which is based on the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Coaching criteria. Players must enjoy themselves and have fun whilst training and playing, but it must be stressed that we expect all our players to attend the sessions and conduct themselves in a proper manner.

This year, all players who are eligible to play in any of the endorsed FFV Futsal competitions will be allocated into teams, based on a Squad System, as per their age group (Age Group Squads - AGS). The club has no hesitation in playing a player up an age group if we think this will benefit the player’s development. If we receive enough players in a particular age group we will form two teams from the one squad. The AGS system will be organised using a sequential numbering system, which is based on the Asian Football Confederation’s Futsal Club Championship rules. Players will be allocated a shirt number for the whole season.
